Christian Wilkins awarded Campbell Trophy

William V. Campbell Trophy 2018 was awarded to Christian Wilkins on Tuesday. Prominently the award displayed his academic success, his proficient football performance and his leadership. This award comes with New York Athletic Club, with 24-inch, 25-pound bronze and 25000$ postgraduate scholarship.

The winner was one of 13 finalists, who received an 18000$ scholarship as a member 60th NFF National Scholar- Athlete of the year and on Tuesday these finalists attended 61st NFF Annual Awards Dinner.

As top senior student Wilkins was also awarded for ACC’s Jim Tatum Award. He was the first student who earned Clemson football scholarship with the undergraduate degree within two and a half years and was an athletic leadership under his graduate degree. He was also the first Kyle Young winner in 2001 and third honoree of Jim Tatum Award.

Dabo Swinney, the head coach of Clemson said that Wilkins did great job in college football and his spirit is at high level as it should be for a student. He also added that he is the best epitome of the award as he is an best example for all the students of his team.

Wilkins helped Clemson to be at no.2 ranking in a 13-0 record with 2018 ACC title, College football playoff semifinal and was the team captain for two years. He amazed 45 tackles including 13.5 tackles for the loss with 2018 Bednarik award, Outland Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy. 2018’s first All-ACC defensive, and the finalist of Lott IMPACT Trophy and got 5 sacks. He was also the runner-up for ACC player and ACC defensive player of this year.

Even in the off field, he has been certified as substitute teacher in the off season to inspire and guide K-12 students. He also worked with Habitat for Humanity, colleges against cancer replay for life and the Clemson Miracle Fundraiser. He even took part in Taylor Elementary Visionary Leaders Program.
