Epic, since a very long time, has been extremely vocal regarding their disapproval of their existing digital storefronts such as Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store.

Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic game has made it to the headlines in the previous year after quite a public feud with the search giant Google and later has turned the heads by deciding to keep Fortnite off from both Steam as well as Play Store, a storefront of gaming origin run by Valve.

Sweeney has justified a rational reason behind these significant decisions and explained that he does not believe that either of the platforms is fair and just in their support of the creators.

This came down to numbers: Valve and Google who have both asked for a 30% cut from the games’ developers to list the game in their stores. Epic Games is going to let the creators is a huge sum of profit of about 88% which is significantly higher than the conventional industry standard which is 70%.

By the looks of it, Epic is not the first company that will give Steam a run for its life.

Steam later responded to the withdrawal of the digital world by offering a more substantial cut of profit to the games which bring in around $10 million or more. This move will please the larger developers, but it is not good for the struggling creators as well as the indie studios.
