Conor McGregor Breaks His Leg In The Ring During Dustin Poirier Match

Only two days after Jake Paul’s taunting tweets, and hours after videos surfaced of the former Youtube star telling UFC fighter Conor McGregor “you better win tonight”, the Irish Lightweight suffered a devastating loss against longtime rival .

The highly anticipated event took place Saturday, July 10, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was the third time that Poirier and went head-to-head, and UFC fans were buzzing with excitement.

Unfortunately, they were not in for a long fight. Shortly before the end of the first round, McGregor’s left foot buckled sharply underneath him and he appeared to gruesomely break either his or his ankle from the brutal misstep.

The fight was forcibly stopped by a doctor on site, and the Irish MMA fighter was taken out on a stretcher after the shocking first round. Poirier was announced the winner by default because McGregor was unable to complete the for medical reasons.

Despite the upsetting loss, McGregor stayed in the Octagon long enough to be interviewed by Joe Rogan, saying “this is not over. If I have to take this outside, I’ll take this outside,” referencing his ongoing rivalry with Poirier.

As OK! previously reported, the days leading up to the match were tense and filled with the expected trash talk between the two fighters, but no one went harder for McGregor than Jake Paul who brazenly called him out as “insecure” and a “liar” in a tweet on July 8.

“He no longer speaks from a place of authenticity & you can tell he’s trying to convince himself of his own lies.” Paul said in the inflammatory social media post. “He takes offense to everything now. He’s bathing in his own insecurity’s [sic]. When we fight I will further expose him for the fraud he is”.

On July 10, the Youtuber warned him that if he didn’t win the upcoming fight against Poirier, his “career is over”, taunting him with a pendant — which supposedly cost the star $100,000 — that depicted a TKO’d McGregor.

There is currently no further update on McGregor’s condition, or when he will be able to step foot back into the whether it is with Poirier or Paul.
