I feel like we talked about this just last week. Halloween Costumes seem to get more and more people pissed off each year. You can be “funny” to some but the internet likes to pick apart every little thing and to make it a storm of hate.
Throw in Kim K with a “racist” costume and you are dropping an internet bomb. Kim arguably is already the most liked/disliked internet celeb of all time. So you throw in a little controversy and it’s going to blow up. (which could be what her mom had planned all along)
Kim Kardashian has sparked a racism row after dressing up as a famous black woman for Halloween.
Seriously, this is trending stuff these days. PEOPLE ARE PISSED!
On Saturday, however, the reception wasn’t as admirable. Kim decided to dress up as the late R&B star Aaliyah, from her Try Again video.
But some commenters have deemed Kardashian’s costume inappropriate.
Aaliyah was only 22 when she tragically died in a freak plane accident in the Bahamas.
She had just wrapped the music video for her upcoming single Rock The Boat.
One follower tweeted her: ‘Legend or not Aaliyah is a black woman and you’re not. It’s offensive and you shouldn’t push this limit, but ok…’
Another vented: ‘Yeah let’s just all things pass under the rug, huh? Never said it was blackface, but you can’t tell me she didn’t add a lil extra tan.’
When fans came to Kim’s defense, the critics explained why they thought it was a bad decision.
One said: ‘It’s offensive because babygirl is DEAD & you can’t pay homage when you’re an Armenian just using her look as a costume. That’s the issue.’
Another added: ‘I’ve watched enough KUWTK to be able to ‘strongly assume’ she never gave a s**t about Aaliyah or hip-hop/ and r&b culture in general.’
