It looks as if MSNBC anchor Katy Tur had a rare moment of self-reflection over the weekend
She wondered if, as a reporter, she was actually “doing more harm than good” as trust in the media plummets to an all-time low.
Promoting her memoir “Rough Draft, during an interview with The Hill, Tur admitted that she had considered quitting the ‘news business’ because the public “don’t trust” mainstream media sources anymore.
She even wondered if she had somehow contributed to that lack of trust.
According to a new Gallup poll trust in the media – newspapers and television – “is hitting an all-time low,” she pointed out.
“People don’t trust us, they don’t believe us, and it makes me wonder if this job, as I am currently doing it, is effective, but if it’s doing more harm than good.”
Infowars reports: Much of the reasons people no longer trust institutional media are due to the fact people like Tur herself for years peddled fake news, amplified political talking points, or suppressed real news stories – like that of Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop.
Here are some egregious examples from Tur herself over the years:
In April, Tur claimed that there would be “real and devastating consequences” if Twitter allowed former President Trump back onto its platform after banning him permanently in January 2021.
Tur peddled fake news in 2020 that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un was “braindead.”
