The watery controversy surrounding ‘N began when production on the game show was shut down on June 2, after a crew member tested positive for a nasty parasite called giardia. When ingested, the little guy can cause intense symptoms including diarrhea, nausea, and stomach cramps.

When members of the crew fell ill, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and Ventura County Public Health tested the slip ‘n slide for giardia. Though nothing was found initially, they soon found it in the set’s surrounding area.

In a statement to People, the network said at the time, “The health and safety of everyone on our set is our number one priority, so out of an abundance of caution we have made the decision to stop production of Ulitimate Slip ‘N Slide at the current location. We are in the process of determining next steps in order to complete production.”

However, the bad press this story generated around the world made it very unlikely NBC could actually air Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide when they had planned following the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

It’s worth noting that while roughly 40 crew members were reportedly collapsing while others locked inside various on set port-o-potties, the game show’s hosts Bobby Moynihan, 44, and Ron Funches, 38, were not infected with the nasty intestinal germ.

NBC has not announced any plans for a new premiere date.
